On a crisp spring morning in May, Washington Park in Denver came alive with wagging tails, smiling faces, and a strong sense of community as the 32nd annual Furry Scurry took place — and Lee of WishesForMyPet.com, was right in the heart of it.

Lee attended this beloved event not only as an animal lover but as an advocate for responsible pet planning. With a booth set up near the festival walk route, she introduced pet parents to Wishes for My Pet — a thoughtful and essential service helping people make legally sound plans for their pets in case of death, serious illness, or emergencies like natural disasters.

“Too many animals are left with uncertain futures when something happens to their owners,” Lee said. “Wishes for My Pet ensures there is a plan in place so that it doesn’t happen.”

Wishes for My Pet offers memberships that allow pet owners to:

• Designate trusted, species-specific caregivers and shelters in advance

• Document unique and behavioral characteristics, care. and Veterinarian information.

• Purchase pet ID products with a unique pet QR Code.

• Provide peace of mind that their furry family members will never be left behind

Throughout the day, Lee connected with attendees, shared brochures, answered questions, and listened to stories of love, loss, and resilience. It was a perfect setting to discuss what often gets overlooked — who will care for your pet if something were to happen to you.

More about Furry Scurry: The 35th Annual Furry Scurry is the largest annual fundraiser for Humane Colorado, formerly the Denver Dumb Friends League, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness and animal suffering. It is a two-mile dog walk and festival held at Denver's Washington Park, with proceeds directly supporting the care of animals at Humane Colorado, including shelter, nourishment, and medical attention, according to Humane Colorado. 

The event includes a community dog walk, vendors, food trucks, demonstrations, and contests, making it a fun and engaging way for people to support animals in need. While the event is traditionally held in Washington Park, participants can also choose to walk in their own neighborhoods. The Furry Scurry raises vital funds for Humane Colorado's programs and services, including their K9 Courage and Feline Fortitude programs and the CSU Spur location for reduced-cost medical care.
